WHAT CAN YOU DO?

There are problems all around and people are agitating what we must do, but what can you do?

We shall look at some cases in the bible and learn.

MOSES

 Exo 17:8 Then came Amalek, and fought with Israel in Rephidim. 9  And Moses said unto Joshua, Choose us out men, and go out, fight with Amalek: to morrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in mine hand. 10  So Joshua did as Moses had said to him, and fought with Amalek: and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill. 11  And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed: and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. 12  But Moses’ hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun. 13 And Joshua discomfited Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword. 

There was a battle, Joshua was the general of the army, Moses was the link between man and

God, Aaron and Hur were also leaders.

Joshua as the general was leading on the battle field while Moses was on the mountain raising his hands as a symbol of lifting up the people before the Lord.

Aaron and Hur did the only thing they could do by helping Moses

Each of them played their parts and the battle was won.

What can you do?

EHUD

Judges 3:15 But when the children of Israel cried unto the LORD, the LORD raised them up a deliverer, Ehud the son of Gera, a Benjamite, a man lefthanded: and by him the children of Israel sent a present unto Eglon the king of Moab.

Jdg 3:20 And Ehud came unto him; and he was sitting in a summer parlour, which he had for himself alone. And Ehud said, I have a message from God unto thee. And he arose out of his seat. 21 And Ehud put forth his left hand, and took the dagger from his right thigh, and thrust it into his belly: 22 And the haft also went in after the blade; and the fat closed upon the blade, so that he could not draw the dagger out of his belly; and the dirt came out. 

Ehud was a left-handed and that was what he could use to serve the Lord. There is no excuse, what can you do?

DAVID

1Sam 17:39 And David girded his sword upon his armour, and he assayed to go; for he had not proved it. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved them. And David put them off him. 40 And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd’s bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine. 

David could not use the armour and weapon of Saul, he had to use what he was conversant with. He had never seen a battle before not to talk of fighting.

Do not copy or be forced to do what you cannot do, what can you do?

ESTHER

Est 5:1  Now it came to pass on the third day, that Esther put on her royal apparel, and stood in the inner court of the king’s house, over against the king’s house: and the king sat upon his royal throne in the royal house, over against the gate of the house. 2  And it was so, when the king saw Esther the queen standing in the court, that she obtained favour in his sight: and the king held out to Esther the golden sceptre that was in his hand. So Esther drew near, and touched the top of the sceptre. 3  Then said the king unto her, What wilt thou, queen Esther? and what is thy request? it shall be even given thee to the half of the kingdom. 4 And Esther answered, If it seem good unto the king, let the king and Haman come this day unto the banquet that I have prepared for him. 

Esther did not look for weapons of war but she used what she was conversant with. What are you conversant with, what can you do?

• Nehemiah used his position and he was able to mobilize the peoples to build the walls of Jerusalem.
• Jehoshaphat used praises to defeat the enemies of the kingdom.
• Hezekiah used prayers to destroy armies that he could not face.
• What do you know how to use?
• What types of weapon do you have?
• The most dangerous weapon is prayer in the mouth of a holiness person.
