HINDRANCES TO PRAYER

1Peter 3: 7 “Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.” That means your prayers can be hindered.
Prayer is to the Christian what breathing is to the body. You can not live without breathing so; you can not live the Christiana life without prayer. Prayer makes a Christian to be flexible in the hands of God. Prayer is a terrible weapon in the hand of the Christian – 2Corinthia 10: 4 “(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;”
Just as there is nothing good without enemies, prayer has a lot of enemies that hinder. The problem we have is that we do not easily recognize the hindrances to prayer. In this study, we shall examine some enemies that hinder prayers.

9. Easy satisfaction
10. Seeing with the eyes of men
11. Worry and anxiety Matthew 7:25 – 34
12. Not being persistent in prayer Luke 18: 1 – 8
13. Lack of knowledge of appropriate provisions and promises of God. Psalm 46: 1 – 3; Isaiah 49: 15 – 16; Jeremiah 33: 3
14. Copying and comparing with others 2Corinthians 10: 12
15. Not conscious of the number and strength of the enemy 1Kings 20: 17 – 20
16. Being busy over less important issues 1Kings 20: 39 – 40
