Serving The Lord
Exodus 23:25 And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.
Deuteronomy 10:12 And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,
Deuteronomy 11:13 And it shall come to pass, if ye shall hearken diligently unto my commandments which I command you this day, to love the LORD your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul,
Matthew 25:15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.
The duties men are called to perform are suited to their situations, and the talents they receive.
God is the ALMIGHTY, ALL-KNOWING which is ONINISCIENCE. He is also the ALL-WISE GOD.
God created us differently and that is why people normally say that “fingers are not equal”
If we go through the bible and see the catalogue of men and women God used, we will see that they were never duplicated.
Joshua was trained by Moses yet they were never the same. Joshua was a warrior but Moses never went to battlefield, yet one time Joshua was on the battlefield, it was the support of Moses that gave the victory. Moses could not had been able to give the total support without the help of Hur and Aaron who though lesser to him in gifts and calling, still had to give their support for the victory on the battlefield. Moses was a great scholar as mentioned in
Act 7:22 And Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in words and in deeds.
Moses wrote more books than any other prophets in the Old Testament.
As we look at the leaders, kings and prophets of old, we see that they serve the Lord to the fullness that was demanded by God on them but they did not copy themselves.
The ministry of Elijah and Elisha were not the same.
Coming to the New Testament, we see Peter and Paul as beacons and shining lights but their ministries were not the same. Peter was uneducated and Paul was highly educated, even to the highest level of that time.
God used them to achieve His goals for their lives but never the same.
Today, in a ministry, we think that if God must use us, we must be like our leaders, the G.Os, the G.S, the Overseers, the Presidents and the Papas.
We shall use a common illustration.
WATER AND ITS OUTLETS
When we connect water into the house from the water tank, the water comes though some taps, in the kitchen, toilets and water enters into the cistern of the toilet and also comes out of showers. In this modern time, we have different types of showers which gives deferent ways in which the water comes out. We also use the water inside the washing machines, fish ponds, swimming pools and also to water the gardens.
In the garden, we have the sprinklers that give water in different ways. What shall we say about the watering cans?
Looking at all these, water is given out to solve different problems and challenges in the best way the instruments or implements can direct the water.
Let us come to the applications.
The spring of water that supplies the tank is God. The water tank is the Bible and the taps and the outlets are you and I.
You will only work by the level of your knowledge and who you are matters a lot.
What makes you who you are?
Your temperament, upbringing, family background, trainings, vocations, tribes, exposures and other areas of live.
In these areas, we will never be the same. Yet, the scripture must be the same.
The people we are ministering to are not also the same.
