Only A Calm Man Can Calm The Storm
The storms of life are blowing up and down, front and back. Many of us are wondering why with all the efforts we had made the storm is still blowing.
Jesus gave us a perfect example –
Mar 4:35 And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side. 36 And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships. 37 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. 38 And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? 39 And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.
Jesus opened His mouth and said, “…Let us pass over unto the other side.”
He had already told them that, “Mark 13:31 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.”
With the confidence that the creature cannot swallow the Creator, He slept. Peter, John and James and the rest of the apostles could not sleep. With all the experiences of the fishermen among them, they could not get solution. Then, they woke Jesus up and rather accused Him of not caring for their lives. Jesus rose up in a calm way with a calm voice said to the sea and the wind, “Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.”
It is not energy, it is resident confidence in the unchanging word of God, remember He told them, “…Let us pass over unto the other side.” Jesus knew the storms would come but He also knew that they were going to the other side. Whatever the storm may be in your life, family, or business, Jesus knew about it before it came and a solution had been proffered on it. All you need is the green light to move and pass the storms.
Another unique example I will give is that of Moses and the children of Israel at the Red Sea.
Exo 14:9 But the Egyptians pursued after them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, and his horsemen, and his army, and overtook them encamping by the sea, beside Pihahiroth, before Baalzephon. 10 And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes, and, behold, the Egyptians marched after them; and they were sore afraid: and the children of Israel cried out unto the LORD. 11 And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt? 12 Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, Let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? For it had been better for us to serve the Egyptians, than that we should die in the wilderness.
Exo 14:13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. 14 The LORD shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace. 15 And the LORD said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? Speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward:
Moses saw all that they saw and also saw what they did not see, the Invisible God. At that point, Moses did not know what to do or what God would do but he knew that God would do something because nothing is accidental to God. Before a problem comes the solution from God is always waiting. Solution comes before problems but we see the problems and not the solutions.
Moses calmed them down. He knew that their God was powerful, caring and able to handle Pharaoh and his army.
God wants us to be calm whatever is happening to us His name is Emmanuel.
We are to be calm because;-
God is in control of our lives
His word can never change
He has no challenger
He is bigger than all our problems
If we can only rely on Him, all the storms of our lives will hear, “Peace, be still.” And the storms will ceased, and there will be great calm.
