THE WAISTED LIFE
Mat 25:18 But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord’s money.
Mat 25:24 Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed: 25 And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine. 26 His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed: 27 Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury. 28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents. 29 For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath. 30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Among the three servants, the last one who received one laboured most. He searched for a good place to dig and hid the single talent. At the end, it was taken away from him and he was given eternal punishment. This was a wasted life.
A life that achieved nothing good at the end is a wasted life. Many laboured and acquired a lot of properties but at the end, they lose everything, what a waste!
Let Us See Some Cases In The Bible.

1. Saul The King – he was anointed of God and he started well but later, disobedience and envy took over his life and he eventually used his sword to kill himself. A wasted life.
2. Absalom – he was a very handsome young man but his ambition to become what God did not destined for him made him to lose his life, what a waste!
3. Amnon – he was one of the children of David but he allowed lust to have better part of him and he eventually lost his life, what a waste!
4. Jehu – God mandated him to wipe away the house of Ahab with their idol Baal. He did and satisfied God’s assignment but he died as an idol worshiper.
5. Judas Iscariot – he was one of the twelve. They were sent out two by two to go and preach the gospel and when they came back, Jesus told them that they would sit on the twelve throne over Israel on the judgement day. He even said that He saw Satan fallen from heaven on their behave but Judas allowed the love of money to have better part of him and Satan helped him to achieved it and he eventually committed suicide, what a wasted life. Remember that he was the treasurer of the ministry at that time. Your position in the church will not protect you but rather add to your woes.
   THINGS TO NOTE WELL
6. If you cannot discover your talent and gifts, you will live a wasted life
7. If you are a man-pleaser you will live a wasted life.
8. If you are living to exalt yourself you will live a wasted life.
9. If material things are more important to you than eternal things, you will live a wasted life.
10. If you throw away patience and obedience out of your life and service, you will live a wasted life.
11. If you program and plan your life without the Holy Spirit, you will live a wasted life.
12. If you allow fear – of man, future, what people will say or fear of death to control your life then it will be a wasted life.
13. If you continue to play with sin, then your life will be wasted.
14. If holiness of life is not mandatory to you then, you will live a wasted life because without holiness no man shall see God.
15. If the love and desire to make heaven at last do not control you, you will live a wasted life.
16. If all you want is to please somebody, your life is already a waste.
17. If you are serving two master, you cannot please any of them and as such you have wasted your life.
18. If lukewarm Christianity is what you are carrying up and down, you are living a wasted life.
19. If your service to God is hypocritical then your service is a waste.
20. If you cannot focus on why you are alive, your life will be wasted.
21. If you are serving God for money, marriage, position, property or any other thing, then you are living a wasted life.
22. If you are copying or comparing your life with others, you are living a wasted life.
23. If you are serving God in sin, then your service is in vain your life is wasted already.
    Before we can say that something is good or bad, there must be some parameters.
    What Are The Parameters For Life?
    Isaiah 43:7 Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.
    Isaiah 43:21 This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise.
24. God created you for Himself.
25. He sent Jesus to redeem you for Himself.
26. Anything short of these is wasted life.
27. The things we do in this world are to assist us to do the will of God and any one of them that lead us away from God is helping us to live a wasted life.
28. Whether we like it or not, whether we believe it or not, this world is not our home.
29. We are going somewhere.
30. Whatever does not help us to prepare adequately for eternity is waste.
31. Houses, childbirth, marriages, accusation of properties can be very helpful in our service to God and to fulfil the purpose of our existence but if we allow any of them to lead us away, we will lose everything and that is wasted life.
